Everyone has the right to age with dignity and on their own
terms. But all too often, that dignity comes at a hidden
cost – the emotional, physical and financial toll on family
caregivers.
Across Canada, more than 8 million people, nearly 1 in 4
Canadians, are unpaid caregivers. Collectively they provide over 5.7
billion hours of unpaid care each year, with an economic value of $97
billion. That’s the equivalent of 2.8 million full time jobs, without
pay, benefits or breaks.
75% of caregivers report feeling physically or emotionally
exhausted. Over 50% experience high levels of stress,
anxiety or depression, and 33% consider leaving their jobs or reducing
their hours just to keep up with caregiving demands.
Our founder, Stephanie Chan, has spent the last 18 years as a senior living advisor, and she has seen over and over, families reaching a breaking point and choosing long-term care not because it’s what they want, but because they’re completely burnt out. The system leans heavily on family caregivers—yet provides few tools to support them.
Family caregivers are overlooked and underserved, and we want to find
a way to better support them, so that they in turn can continue
providing the best of care to their loved one.
That’s why we’re launching RESPITE & RENEWAL, a respite membership program, which will offer respite relief, resources, caregiver coaching and peer support, so that caregivers can rest and restore while giving the best possible care to their loved one.
Our mission is simple: Caregivers deserve care too.
This one-of-a-kind program will include the following components, all aimed at helping the primary family caregiver:

1 Respite Shift of at least 4 hours per week, so
that the family caregiver can take a break and recharge. A
qualified and pre-vetted caregiver will be matched with the care
recipient and come to the home so that the family caregiver can go
out or just simply rest.

Wellness Check-in’s – A 50 minute caregiver
coaching call each month with an experienced eldercare coach –
these calls serve as an outlet for the family caregiver to discuss
their frustrations, challenges or simply to receive emotional support.

Care Mastermind Group– participation in a monthly
Zoom meeting of a peer community of caregivers to share
experiences and learn from each other. Each meeting will be
moderated by an experienced senior living advisor. This is a
chance to de-stress and get emotional and practical support from
others who are going through the same thing.
- Caregiver Resource Toolkit – time-saving templates, checklists, and other guides meant to keep family caregivers organized, informed and clear-minded. This resource kit will also include educational videos that can be kept and viewed at leisure.
Caregivers are burning out in silence. Many are at a breaking point
without a safety net, and seniors are being moved prematurely to
long-term care homes because families don’t see any other option.
Our program will provide crucial support to combat stress and burnout.

We make it easy for families to find, hire and manage caregivers
to support an aging parent so they can continue living in their own
homes. Our integrated platform allows families to review caregiver
profiles, interview candidates, set up a care plan with tasks, view

Families can start by perusing our caregiver profiles, or post a
job opportunity outlining their needs. Our platform sends the job
opportunity to pre-vetted caregivers who are suitable for the
position, and we match and connect the family with the caregiver

Who is this program for?
RESPITE & RENEWAL is designed for family caregivers who are
caring for an elderly loved one. Whatever stage they are at in their
caregiving journey, this program is designed to offer relief, support
and community. The core philosophy of the program is about giving the
primary family caregiver a break or period of rest on a regular basis.
It's up to the family caregiver what they wish to do with their break
- many use it to rest or do something that they enjoy, while others
may need the time simply to do essential errands such as grocery
shopping. In addition to the respite care, we've also added a variety
of other support to help the family caregiver from burning out.
When are rewards delivered?
Rewards will be delivered after the completion of the campaign.
Who can I gift the reward to?
The rewards are available to anyone across Canada other than in Quebec.
What if I want to support the
campaign but can't think of someone specifically to gift the
reward to?

We are partnering with the Brain Wellness program at the The
Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health in Vancouver, BC. This
program serves family caregivers caring for someone with a
neurological condition such as Alzheimer's or Parkinsons. As we
receive gifts from donors who wish to pay it forward, we will
contact the operators of the program to invite their family
caregivers to apply to receive the gift.
Can I donate in honor or memory of someone?
Absolutely! There is an option at checkout to give in honor or memory of someone.
Can I give more than one gift?

What is the funding goal isn't met?
